Word Search is a free online puzzle where you hunt for hidden words tucked into a grid of letters. Pick a theme, then find every word running across, down, diagonally, forwards or backwards. Play free with no download and no sign-up, on phone or desktop.

How to play

• The words to find are listed beside or below the grid.
• Drag in a straight line across the letters of a word, from its first to its last.
• Or tap the first letter, then tap the last — the line snaps to the row, column or diagonal.
• Words can run in all 8 directions, including diagonals and spelled backwards.
• A correct word locks in with its own colour and gets crossed off the list.
• Find every word to finish; the timer tracks your run and saves your best.

Scan for a distinctive first letter rather than reading the whole grid — an uncommon letter like Q, Z or X points straight to its word. Do a separate pass just for diagonals and backwards spellings, since those are the ones most players miss. Longer words are actually easier to spot: once you catch two or three letters in a line, the rest usually falls into place.
