How to play

• Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter to submit a guess.
• A green tile means the letter is correct and in the right spot.
• A yellow tile means the letter is in the word but in a different spot.
• A grey tile means the letter is not in the word at all.
• Use the clues to refine your next guess — you get six tries in total.
• Type on your keyboard or tap the on-screen keys, which tint to track your clues.

Open with a word rich in common vowels and letters, like one packed with A, E, R, S, and T, to light up as many clues as possible on the first row. Do not waste a guess repeating grey letters, and pay attention to yellow ones — they belong in the word, just somewhere you have not tried. When several answers still fit, a guess that tests brand-new letters often teaches you more than one that only reshuffles what you know.
