Nonogram

Nonogram is a free online picture-logic puzzle, also known as a Griddler or Picross. Use the number clues along each row and column to work out which cells to fill, and a hidden picture slowly appears. Play free with no download and no sign-up, on phone or desktop.

How to play

• The numbers beside each row and column list the lengths of the runs of filled cells, in order.
• A gap of at least one empty cell separates neighbouring runs.
• Tap a cell to fill it; switch to Mark mode to place an X on cells you know are empty.
• A clue turns muted once that row or column matches its numbers.
• Pick a board size (small, medium or large) to set the challenge.
• Fill every correct cell to reveal the picture and solve the puzzle.

Start with the longest clues on the smallest lines — a run that nearly fills a row leaves only a few positions, so its overlapping cells are certain. Mark empty cells with an X as aggressively as you fill: knowing where a run cannot go is just as powerful as knowing where it must. Work rows and columns in turns, letting each solved line unlock the crossing ones.
