Asteroids

Asteroids is a free online space shooter you can play right in the browser. Pilot a drifting ship through a field of tumbling rocks, blast them into ever-smaller pieces, and survive one more wave. No download and no sign-up — play on phone or desktop.

How to play

• Rotate the ship with the ← and → keys (or the on-screen buttons).
• Press ↑ to thrust forward; the ship keeps drifting after you let go.
• Fire with the space bar or the FIRE button to shoot the rocks.
• Each hit splits a rock into two smaller ones until it is destroyed.
• Smaller fragments are worth more points, so keep breaking them down.
• Clear every rock to advance to the next, faster wave; you have three lives.

Keep moving and never sit still in the middle of the field — momentum carries over, so tap thrust in short bursts to reposition rather than holding it. After you respawn you get a brief flashing period of invulnerability; use it to slip clear before firing. The screen wraps at every edge, so a shot that flies off one side reappears on the other.
